Need outfit advice for a party please?

I need some outfit advice for a party I will be attending this weekend. It is a dressy occasion (not fancy dressy, kind of in between semi-casual and semi-formal). I am going to wear a grey knee lenght pencil skirt. It is dark grey with tiny black stitching in the material and it has a tiny black belt. I want to wear it with a dark purple sleeveless dress shirt and black heels. I am debating if I should wear it with the purple shirt or with a black one. I know the black one is the safe way to go, but I want a splash of color. Do you think I should stick with the purple shirt, or should I wear a black one and just add some colorful jewelry?
