Why does Sen. McCain support taxpayer subsidy for the healthcare insurance companies?

Sounds evil to most people that I talk with. Let the insurance companies swim or drown without anymore subsidies or payments to evil politicians in the U.S. Senate. This one has a very, very dark side unknown to the general public.
