What might be the cause of bleeding from nose and rectum?

My fiancee and I are trying to find out what could be the cause of his bleeding from the nose and rectum. He can't remember, but it has happened twice, today and yesterday or maybe 2 days ago. It is minor bleeding, bright red in color, and is especially a very small amount from the nose when he blows his nose after a shower, etc. Other than high blood pressure, what could be the culprit? Is it anything we should really worry about? He does not have medical coverage so visiting a doctor would be a last resort...
